On November 19 from 14:00 to 16:00, the University of Tartu Centre for Digital Humanities will host an English-language seminar titled Large Language Models and the Estonian Language: the State of the Art. The event is organized by the Centre for Digital Text Studies (DigiTS) in cooperation with the Language Data Research Infrastructure (KeTa).

Interest in the European Research Council (ERC) programme has grown among University of Tartu researchers. In response, the Grant Writing Unit is organising an ERC Information Event on 4 November 2025, focused on individual ERC Starting, Consolidator, and Advanced Grants.

On 9–10 October 2025, the University of Tartu will host the final conference of the MEDAL project, “Methodological Excellence in Data-Driven Approaches to Linguistics: New Challenges, Novel Approaches.” Registration is now open.

Estonian researchers have created the AI Barometer where users can compare the responses of language models and assess their proficiency in Estonian. Everyone is welcome to try out the barometer at baromeeter.ai. The researchers aim to collect at least 50,000 comparisons by the end of June.

The Center for Digital Text Scholarship (DigiTS), operating under the Centre of Digital Humanities at the Institute of Estonian and General Linguistics, is launching a call for applications for three research fellows (post-docs) and one junior research fellow (PhD student) in Digital Humanities.
